Job Overview

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician assists Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing by troubleshooting process issues and product build issues. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician also supports Component Engineering by performing evaluations and tests of components and assemblies intended to improve product quality, increase manufacturing efficiencies and lower product costs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Identify and troubleshoot process, material and equipment problems to minimize down time and to recommend solutions to Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Develop, assemble, procure and modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Write manufacturing work instructions.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Engineers with revisions and improvements to manufacturing methods, components and procedures.
  • Complete time studies to quantify processing times and identify areas for process improvements.
  • Assist with hands on training of manufacturing employees on new products, tooling, equipment and process revisions.
  • Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause.
  • Perform tests, gather data, and write results/reports with assistance from Manufacturing Engineering, utilizing various types of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Promote and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities in Manufacturing.
  • Assist in equipment and process validations.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering Technician experience, preferably within the medical industry.
  • Interest and aptitude for understanding, using and troubleshooting electro-mechanical medical instruments.
  • Experience with a variety of diagnostic tools
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • CAD experience not required, but a plus.
  • Familiar with ISO 13485 and FDA Design Control.
  • Experience in structured problem solving and use of statistical tools
