Water purification systems for dialysis facilities, including hemodialysis dialyzer and reprocessing systems, as well as sterilants and filtration products. This segment is operated through Mar Cor Purification, Inc.  and MEDIVATORS.

HEALTHCARE DISPOSABLES

Single-use, infection prevention products used primarily in the dental market including face masks, sterilization pouches, towels and bibs, tray covers, saliva ejectors, germicidal wipes, plastic cups and disinfectants. This segment is operated through Crosstex International, Inc.

Job Overview

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the purchasing team who is responsible for procuring direct materials used in production at the lowest overall total cost, highest quality while also managing inventory levels. Areas of responsibility include sourcing, price negotiation and contracts, department budget planning, inventory management, MRP data management, and overall department leadership. Manage a staff of buyers and buyer/planners that are responsible for procurement to meet demand for production requirements, service depot and field service. This position will work collaboratively with materials planning and operations to meet customer demand while achieving operational goals by developing and maintaining agreements with vendors to ensure that all logistical details from forecast to payment are successfully executed. The individual will collaborate with planning, operations management, engineering, logistics, warehouse management, finance and quality functions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work independently under organizational guidelines to achieve department objectives and goals.
  • Assists in make vs. buy decisions and the supplier selection process.
  • Negotiates contracts for goods, services, supplies and equipment ensuring quality, cost effectiveness and timely delivery.
  • Manage supplier relationships
  • Establishes and controls department budgets.
  • Develops, coaches, and/or mentors procurement staff.
  • Supervisory responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing subordinates, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Communicate supply issues and facilitate corrective actions to meet business needs
  • Provide continuous improvement leadership in the areas of procure to pay

Develop and manage contracts with suppliers to reduce risk, and insure continuous supply of quality goods and services at the lowest overall cost and highest quality. 

  • Identify and evaluate supplier capabilities based on but not limited to the following:
    • Strategic fit with business objectives.
    • Level of capability within the technology.
    • Capacity to meet production needs.
    • Technical expertise and capability.
    • Financial stability.
    • GMP and ISO certifications
    • Leadtime and cost

 

  • Responsible for implementing strategies and actions developed through the use of teams and/or personal initiatives to assure timely, cost effective decisions.

Ensure that the department policies, procedures and training records meet the company quality policy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with emphasis in supply chain management preferred.
  • 7-10 years’ experience leading purchasing in a manufacturing environment. Preferably in a regulated industry such as medical device.
  • Possess analytical and technical skills required to select, manage, and improve supplier performance through the use of metrics/KPI’s. Experience with integrated ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Lean manufacturing experience (desired).
  • APICS and or CPM certification (preferred).
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Successful experience in supplier rationalization, price reductions and lead-time reductions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage many tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Manage process improvement projects related to the procure to pay process.
