    HEALTHCARE DISPOSABLES

    Single-use, infection prevention products used primarily in the dental market including face masks, sterilization pouches, towels and bibs, tray covers, saliva ejectors, germicidal wipes, plastic cups and disinfectants. This segment is operated through Crosstex International, Inc.

    Job Overview

    The Product Continuation Engineer supports the Electro-Mechanical focus factory and the associated Operations team that manufactures medical instruments by affecting component and assembly changes intended to improve product quality, component availability, manufacturing efficiencies and product cost. The Product Continuation Engineer accomplishes this by providing component and product level subject matter expertise to all Operations support personnel to facilitate informed decisions. The Product Continuation Engineer also manages larger efforts and executes specific tasks that require component and assembly level changes, evaluations, testing, verifications and validations.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Provide technical support to a variety of manufacturing assembly lines for component and assembly issues associated with the manufacturing of a variety of medical instruments.
    • Identify and evaluate potential component alternatives in response to component obsolescence, component quality or component cost savings opportunities.
    • Support sourcing needs that require updates to component and assembly drawings.
    • Support product transfer efforts by updating component and assembly drawings as required to conform to site standards.
    • Update component and assembly drawings in response to CAPA’s
    • Create and update component specifications using CAD and MS Word. Component specifications may include a variety of electro-mechanical components, metal parts, machined parts, pumps, valves, circuit boards, wiring harnesses, switches, controllers and hardware.
    • Create assembly drawings using CAD.
    • Create Bills of Material for assemblies.
    • Author and submit Engineering Change Requests.
    • Collaborate with cross functional personnel, including those from Operations Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and Documentation.
    • Work within a team environment within all levels of the organization.
    • Create project plans and organize and lead resources to ensure project milestones are met within expectations of timeline, quality and budget.
    • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation to meet company, client, and regulatory expectations.
    • Utilize project management skills to drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize yield, quality, cycle time and/or ergonomics.
    • Prepare and conduct design reviews for proposed design changes.
    • Follow design control procedures.
    • Occasional travel to customers or suppliers as required.

    Qualifications

    • BS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 5 years of Engineering preferably within the medical industry.
    • Minimum of 2 years of Solid Works CAD experience, Creo experience is a plus.


    Preferred Experience and Skills

    • Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA Design Controls.
    • Experience in specifying a variety of electro-mechanical components, including valves, motors, pumps, level sensors, pressure sensors, membrane control pads, etc.
    • Experience in designing a variety of mechanical components, including sheet metal components, plastic injection molded components, thermo-formed components, machined components, etc.
    • Experience in improving products through component and assembly redesign efforts.
    • Experience or Interest and aptitude for understanding, using and troubleshooting electro-mechanical medical instruments.
    • Experience in structured problem solving and use of statistical tools.
    • Training and experience in Lean and Six Sigma, or equivalent.
    • Experience in Design for Manufacturing, DFMEA, PFMEA, DOE, and Validations.
