    Job Overview

    This position will support the CMI Chemist in all formulations and product life cycle for new and existing chemical products in a manufacturing environment.

    Main Responsibilities

      • Prepare test solutions, formulations, and other reagents for laboratory tests.
      • Analysis and profiling of inorganic and organic compounds in own and competitors’ brands to determine chemical and physical properties, composition, microbiocidal efficacy, structure, relationships and reactions, utilising liquid and gas chromatography, spectroscopy, and other spectrophotometry techniques and related analysis.
      • Support to develop, improve, and customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, and analytical methods.
      • Compile and analyse test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiencies and to diagnose malfunctions.
      • Participate in the preparation of chemical reagents and formulations.
      • Prepare product formulations in order to conduct test and record performance
      • Write technical papers and reports; prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
      • Observe company process and procedures
      • Act to be Compliant with all the health and safety company procedures and International, EU and local legislative and regulatory requirements (CLP, REACH, etc)



    • Laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology and procedures including: LC-GC alone or coupled with MS, UV, FT-IR, SDS-PAGE, Fluorescence, Surface Plasmon Resonance, NMR, diffractometer and LS.
    • Principles and practices of qualitative and quantitative inorganic chemistry, biology and bacteriology.
    • Principles of chemical, biological and physical analysis.
    • Mathematical calculations used in chemical analyses.
    • Proper sample collection procedures and techniques according to International standards and pharmacopoeia.
    • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
    • Use of existing libraries, repositories and databases
    • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
    • Operate the most complex laboratory equipment including liquid and gas chromatography, atomic absorption, ES-MS, LS, SDS-PAGE, UV, Fluorescence, FT-IR, NMR and Surface Plasmon Resonance, etc.
    • Analyze and interpret test results. Conduct chemical, biological and physical tests.
    • Effectively collect samples and specimens.
    • Conduct mathematical calculations.
    • Maintain laboratory equipment.
    • Use computers and a variety of computer software programs.
    • Prepare clear, concise and technical reports.
    • Communicate in Italian and English clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
