    Life Sciences 

    Water purification systems for dialysis facilities, including hemodialysis dialyzer and reprocessing systems, as well as sterilants and filtration products. This segment is operated through Mar Cor Purification, Inc. and MEDIVATORS.



    Single-use, infection prevention products used primarily in the dental market including face masks, sterilization pouches, towels and bibs, tray covers, saliva ejectors, germicidal wipes, plastic cups and disinfectants. This segment is operated through Crosstex International, Inc.

    Job Overview

    The Principal R&D Technician designs, builds and programs Validation Test Fixtures for Continuation Engineering projects.

    Able to write Validation Protocols and Technical Reports with limited help from Engineers. Provides on-going support in carrying out protocols, testing and engineering support as needed by the R&D Continuation team. The position is responsible for supporting the work within R&D, but also working on cross functional teams within the entire company to solve problems and provide technical direction. Work with Vendors to provide components and test equipment as needed. Mentors junior Technicians. Knowledge of Medivator’s equipment is highly desired.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Strong PLC, and data acquisition skills. Ability to program automated test stands, and use data acquisition tools to collect data such as pressure, flow, and temperature., Lab View, DeweSoft or equivalent experience is highly desired.
    • Specify, Design, and Construct electromechanical equipment comprising of hydraulic components, frame members, various sensors, electrical components, and associated wiring.
    • Create electrical, hydraulic and mechanical drawings for documenting new and existing test systems.
    • Prepare and/or Author QP’s (Qualification Protocols), ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders), BOM’s (Bills of Material), Component Spec Sheets, and Item masters, for entry into documentation system.
    • Provide in-depth analysis on technical studies including the use of statistical formulas for analysis in determining alternate solutions or determining root causes.
    • Mentor Jr. Electro-Mechanical Technicians with machine knowledge, or other supporting roles as needed.
    • Lead meetings and teams to work out test plans, technical issues, test system build schedules (Gantt charts) and provide feedback to management.
    • Supports in providing information for quotations on custom test applications. (Including test specifications, drawings, scope, labor hours, equipment costs, lead times, schedules and out sourcing services)
    • Lead Continuation Engineering projects as directed with a cross functional team. Evaluate devices according to protocols, test plans or outlines to determine physical characteristics and performance. Document test results on appropriate data sheets.
    • Develop test plans, test strategies and test sequences to collect relevant performance data on tester builds that support Continuation Engineering projects.
    • Interfaces with internal customers, and external vendors to provide a technical service or design support.
    • Hands-on design and construction of electromechanical equipment including hydraulic components, various sensors, electrical components, PLC programming and associated wiring.
    • CAD experience will contribute to conceptualizing design work, and assisting with drafting efforts
    • Operation and use of general hand tools as well as power tools for construction
    • Operation of test equipment, multi-meters, power supplies, pressure and temperature measuring equipment, data acquisition modules, PLCs, and O-scopes.


    • Technical degree (or equivalent training). Prefer that the work experience is in the medical device industry in a R&D position with technical ability.
    • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in troubleshooting systems to the component level in the areas of fluid power, electro-mechanical devices and electronic.
    • Must be highly organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
    • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills as well as team building skills, basic PC skills, and have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
    • PLC programing and Data Acquisition knowledge in Labview and/or Dewsoft required
    • Knowledge of CAD software such as Solidworks or Creo desired
    • Ability to process data and formulate plan of action to support data analysis
    • Must be able to properly use most inspection tools and equipment.
    • Must be able to read and understand component/product specifications.
