  • Job Overview

    Primarily responsible for handling all aspects of the Company’s state sales/use taxes and VAT.

    Secondarily responsible for accurate, timely preparation, and reporting of key financial schedules and key financial statements consisting of multiple legal
    entities on a monthly basis

    Main Responsibilities

    • Prepare and file all monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns, extensions, Medical Device Excise Tax payments and returns, and monthly and
      quarterly VAT returns.
    • Manage voluntary disclosure and direct registrations with all states, cities, counties, and other jurisdictions.
    • Coordinate all state sales & use tax audits on back taxes until the settlement process has been finalized.
    • Responsible for accurate and timely reconciliation of tax activity to the general ledger (sales & use, VAT, Medical Device Excise Tax and state income
    •  Initiate payment requests for quarterly state income tax estimate / extension payments.
    • Work closely with corporate team on state corporate income tax returns and reconciliations of estimated payments to returns.
    • Responsible for all Vertex taxing software maintenance required to ensure proper amounts are taxed correctly.
    • Provide financial analysis and support management on tax related issues.
    • Review expenses and zero dollar sales for any Use tax liability.
    • Responsible for all miscellaneous state and local tax filings (i.e. franchise, gross receipts, business, etc.)
    • Review all capital expenditures for sales tax refunds and use tax compliance. Train Accounts payable personnel on sales & use tax and VAT regulations
      for expense items.
    • Own unclaimed property compliance process.
    • Recommend tax strategies due to new taxation laws and/or changes in the business structure.
    • Assist with the coordination of the monthly closing process and produce financial schedules and/or statements in a timely manner. Manage the flow of
      information to and from international subsidiaries, sister companies, and parent company.
    • Coordinate and maintain the integrity of account reconciliations, key financial schedules, and other financial reporting for multiple legal entities.
    • Perform reviews and analyses of subsidiary financials and supporting reconciliations to ensure their accuracy in accordance with U.S. GAAP standards.
    • Prepare specific account analyses and reconciliations on a monthly basis for the corporate headquarters as well as its subsidiaries.
    • Assist with preparing supporting documentation for quarterly and year end S.E.C. filings requirements.
    • Assist with the budgeting / forecasting process and provide interim variance reporting.
    • Work closely with external and internal financial auditors compiling information to compete various audits.
    • Perform and assist with various accounting research for new accounting pronouncements, and new company initiatives, which includes preparation of
      white papers.
    • As a process owner, ensure all internal controls are being followed and any reporting requirements for the related job responsibilities are completed.
      Maintain current SOX documentation and support the Company’s internal audit function in testing of business processes.
    • Performs a leadership role in providing guidance to the accounting staff on all relevant matters.
    • Work on special projects for management as requested.


    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting is required with five years of relevant experience (minimum). Must be proficient with personal computers and financial software. Desired proficiency with Vertex software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are critical to success. Experience with foreign currency translations and transactions a plus. Position requires good interpersonal skills in dealing with people at all levels in the company (at both the corporate headquarters and the foreign subsidiaries). Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and practices are essential.
