    Job Overview

    The packaging team leader is responsible for training and coordinating employees 4/8 packaging cells. Through a balanced approach of safety, quality,
    delivery and cost, this role executes plans, distributes work assignments, utilizes personal experience to assist operators with packaging equipment
    operation, operates equipment to support deliveries and backfills employee time-off. The packaging team lead would also have to backfill the other cell
    groups lead position when out. The packaging team leader encourages team effort and supportive attitudes between workers.

    Main Responsibilities


    • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by enforcing EH&S policies
    • Report near misses and accidents including recommended corrective actions


    • Assist in training product specific procedures and maintain training records
    • Follow up on production to ensure product meets specifications and work with employees to make adjustments as required
    • Helps to identify potential non-conforming material problems, recommends preventative measures and implements quality improvements


    • Coordinate with press supervisor, packaging team and planning team to ensure job completion in a timely manner to meet internal and external customer requirements
    • Help meet delivery schedules during employee time-off by backfilling production, coordinating overtime and adjusting labor plans.


    • Ensure accurate inventory counts for finished goods, coming to and leaving the department
    • Help keep localized warehouse organized to maximize workflow, supply presses with raw material and monitor inventory for level loading of the production


    • Review packaging log sheets to ensure accuracy, monitor production rates and offer support for improvement
    • Train packagers on packaging department equipment and procedures and improve overall department efficiency. 
    • Operate packaging equipment to meet output requirements
    • Support daily & weekly preventative maintenance to minimize downtime


    • Implement and maintain 6S and lean activities in the packaging department
    • Identify and suggest opportunities for production rate improvement


    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • 5 – 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
    • 1 – 2 years of employee training experience
    • Experience with ISO standards, ISO 13485 preferred
    • Lean and continuous improvement experience a plus
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Ability to solve practical problems through analytical and decision-making skills
    • High sense of urgency focused on task accomplishment
    • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)
    • Must be able to lift 50+ LBS
